Copiso is calmly facing the 2025 cereal campaign, in which it will have a surplus. The cooperative has collected over 135,000 tons of good quality grain from its members, which is more than the 130,000 tons collected in 2021.
By this point in 2024, members had contributed around 108,000 tons. Copiso estimates that this season will see around 280,000 tons sold. It will have all its own needs and demands for feed production covered, and will still have capacity to sell cereal. Copiso sells around 40% of the cereal harvest in the province of Soria.
The heat in June and the hailstorms in July have taken their toll on a harvest that could have been extraordinary. Despite everything, production will be almost at the level of the record year of 2021.
Managing director Pascual López describes the grain harvested by Copiso’s members this season as “good,” guaranteeing quality feed for their swine production. Although the specific value has declined somewhat, the characteristics are “satisfactory”: one point lower in protein and more starch in wheat and barley.
