Regional meetings held in preparation for the General Assembly on May 30

Copiso has concluded the celebration of its ten regional meetings, during which 68 delegates were elected to participate in the upcoming ordinary general assembly on May 30. Members had the opportunity to review the cooperative’s financial data and business activities for the 2024 fiscal year, which will be approved at the general assembly.

For the first time, over one million pigs were marketed, achieving one of the goals set by the Board of Directors—a milestone that had been within reach in recent years. During the preparatory meetings, it was emphasized that over the past five years, the cooperative has been prioritizing and strengthening its own pig production capacity, as the affiliated companies have now stabilized.

Significant investments made in 2024 were also reported, aimed at consolidating Copiso’s market share, totaling approximately 15 million euros. These include the creation of the companies Pormascop (with the Naturuel group), Gatial (with La Hoguera cured meats), and Transportes Tovar (which retains its name and partners with the previous owner).

Additionally, a new storage facility with a sorting system is being built in Rioseco de Soria, and the facilities of the company Joaquín Gallego have been acquired, adding more warehouses to Copiso’s storage capacity.

In five regions, a board member was elected to the Board of Directors: specifically in Soria, Almazán, Arcos-Vicarías, Pinares-El Valle, and San Esteban de Gormaz. Every two years, board members from five regions are renewed. Furthermore, the general assembly will include the election of the vice president, secretary, and members of the Agriculture and Livestock Committees.

The representation areas and their respective number of delegates are: Ágreda (8 delegates), Almazán (10 representatives), Arcos-Vicarías (5), Berlanga de Duero (5), El Burgo de Osma (3), Gómara (8), La Sierra (7), Pinares-El Valle (5), San Esteban de Gormaz (9), and Soria (8). The number of delegates per region corresponds to the number of members in each area.
